Literature Text

You loved this time of year, while most people love Christmas or Easter you love April fool’s day, it gave you the perfect opportunity to indulge the child within while not making everybody hate you.

Last year had been the best April fool’s day to date as you’d just started living at Stark Towers thus you’d pranked all of the Avengers and this year was going to be even better. After all, the resident god of mischief was staying!

Initially you’d thought about trying to prank Loki but eventually you’d decided that it would actually be more useful to get him on your side and just pull some amazing pranks on the rest of the tower (plus you didn’t really want to die, least of all by Loki’s hands).

Consequently you were now heading towards to Loki’s room.

You were slightly worried that he’d throw a book at you or freeze your hand in a block of ice when you arrived as that’s what he usually did whenever anybody came into his room or tried to socialise with him, consequently everyone, a part from Thor, had pretty much stopped trying, but you had a feeling that Loki would rather like April fool’s day if he gave it a chance.

You came to stop outside of Loki’s room and took a deep breath before knocking on the door,

“For the last time Thor I do not want any food,” came a hiss from the other side of the door,

“It’s not Thor,” you replied,

“Oh. Well go away!” You rolled your eyes and pushed the door open,

“You know I think it’s sweet that you didn’t tell your brother to go away,” you mused before Loki threw the book he’d been reading at you.

“Hey!” you cried as you caught it, “That’s a hardback!” Loki sighed,

“Get out of my room before I turn you into a walking black of ice,”

“I did actually come here with a purpose,”

“I don’t doubt it. Now leave,”

“At least here me out,”

“You have five seconds,” Loki stated, “One,”

“Well it’s April fool’s day tomorrow-”

“Two-”

“And from what I can tell it’s basically your day,”

“Go on,”

“Well traditionally on April fool’s day people play pranks on each other,” Loki tilted his head forward slightly, indicating for you to continue, “And…errr…Will you help me prank everyone else?”

You watched nervously as Loki got up and strode over to where you stood by the door before plucking his book out of your hand,

“Why should I help you?” He asked, his face mere centimetres in front of yours,

“You’ll get to prank all of the Avengers?”

“I could do that without your help,”

“But if you did that everyone would kill you,” you pointed out, “If you team up with me you’ll be pretty much able to get away with it!”

Loki took a step back and nodded,

“Ok,”

“Really?” Loki rolled his eyes,

“Although if you want my help me you can stop asking stupid questions,”

“Sorry,” you mumbled.

Loki turned on his heels and walked back to the middle of his room. After a second you followed him.

“So what did you have planned?” Loki asked, sitting back down in his chair,

“I don’t know, I thought you might have some good ideas, you’re the one they call ‘Trickster’ after all,”

“Hmmm…Ok here’s what we can do…”

You watched as Loki cast a spell on the lock on Tony’s door,

“Don’t you think this is a little unoriginal?” you asked as Loki pushed the door open and walked over to the bath room,

“Does it matter? Tony’s reaction will be hilarious! Now help me find Stark’s shampoo!”

It took you a minute before you found the bottle,

“Here,” you said, passing the bottle over. Loki took it and unscrewed the lid,

“What colour?”

“Remind me again why we’re using magic and not dye?” You sighed,

“Because magic is better. By using magic Stark won’t be able to see it in his shampoo and we can have any colour we want,” Loki explained,

“Well if we’re using magic then could we do it so that it changes colour?” Loki nodded,

“We could,” he agreed before waving his hand over the bottle and putting the lid back on, “Go put this back then we need to get to the kitchen before Thor comes down for breakfast,”

“Bossy,” you muttered as you took up the bottle and slipped it back into the bathroom.

The kitchen was empty when you walked in. Perfect. You watched as Loki walked into the middle of the room and spread his arms. He flicked his wrists and a pulse of green light was sent out across the room but it was gone after a second,

“Done?” you asked,

“Yeah,”

“Good, do you want some breakfast?” you question as you opened one of the cupboards and pulled out a packet of biscuits,

“No thanks…Seriously? Biscuits for breakfast?”

“Yes, what’s wrong with that?” Loki didn’t answer, he just walked over to the coffee machine.

At that moment Clint and Thor walked into the kitchen, Clint still looked half asleep but Thor was wide awake,

“Brother!” He boomed, “You’re not in your room!”

“How observant of you” Loki sighed, “You know every now and then I think that you might be smarter than I first thought however it’s times like now when I know you’re not.”

Clint smirked and Thor scowled, however he didn’t say anything as he walked over to a cupboard to get some breakfast. You and Loki glanced at each other and smirked. Both of you knew what was coming.

Thor reached out to grab a box of poptarts but when his hand got near it the box flew away from him. Thor frowned and went for the box again but it flew away from him again,

“What…?” Thor mumbled as you bit your lip in an attempt not to laugh.

Thor went for the box again and again it jumped away from him, this time it fell out of the cupboard.

Thor continued to chase the box around the kitchen (by this point you, Loki and Clint were laughing openly) until the box bumped into Clint’s foot and he bent down and picked it up,

“How did you…?” Thor cried. Clint shrugged,

“Looks likes you can’t have poptarts for breakfast mate,” he said through his giggles.

Thor grumbled but head back over to the fridge. He opened the door and attempted to take out some orange juice. He was about to pick it up but then the cartoon zipped across the fridge. Thor let out a howl of anguish before spinning around to face Loki who was still laughing,

“What did you do brother?!” he cried, however before he could get any further there came a scream from upstairs.

Everyone turned to the door to see Tony Stark walking in with bright red hair, although it changed to bright pink after a second, of course everyone started to laugh.

“You did this!” Tony cried, turning to Loki,

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Loki replied calmly,

“Change it back!” Loki shuck his head,

“Don’t worry it’ll wear off in a few hours,” he said and Tony lunged forward to grab him,

“Time to go!” You cried, grapping hold of Loki’s wrist and pulling him out of the room.

The three Avenger stood in the kitchen gazing at the door for a second before Tony groaned,

“What?” Clint asked,

“What’s today?”

“…What?”

“Think about it, what’s the date?”

“April 1st…oh crap,” Clint groaned however Thor still looked confused,

“What does the day have to do with my brother playing childish pranks?” he asked,

“Well April 1st is April fool’s day,” Tony explained,

“What is that?”

“Do you remember last year when (Y/n) went around playing pranks on everyone?” Clint asked. Thor nodded. “Well that was April fool’s day,”

“So you think (Y/n) did this?” Thor asked, it was now Tony’s turn to nod,

“Yup and this time she’s got Loki to help her!”

Fun fact: April 1st is in fact Loki's Feast Day, according to Norse tradition. :D
