Mistletoe (Loki x Reader)

The last few days had been chaos at Stark Towers. It was Christmas Eve and the avengers, especially Tony, had insisted on having a very extravagant Christmas, given that Thor had never had a Christmas and Steve hadn’t had one of seventy years.

You had been in the middle of all the chaos, trying to help out with the festivities and trying not to get in the way.

The only person who wasn’t helping out was Loki. He wasn’t exactly thrilled to be staying with the avengers, least of all at this time of year. Thor had tried to convince him, on several occasions, that it would be fun but each time Loki just walked off muttering something about ‘stupid Midgard celebration’.

Right now through everyone was preparing for the Christmas party Tony was throwing that night.

“Do I have to wear this stupid jumper?” Nat asked, walking into the room where you, Tony and Thor were putting up decorations.

“Yes,” You replied, turning to see Nat standing in the doorway wearing a pink jumper with a sparkly penguin on.

“Everyone has to wear one,” Thor added happily. Nat rolled her eyes and walked over to the box of decorations still to be put up.

“Is that mistletoe?” She asked after a moment. Tony grinned,

“Yes, I thought it would be a nice touch to the party.”

“What’s mistletoe?” Thor questioned,

“It’s a plant people kiss under at Christmas,” you explain. Thor nodded before frowning,

“Why?”

“I don’t really know, it’s tradition,” you replied thoughtfully. Tony grinned again,

“You see Thor, you hang it above the door and then, for example, if (Y/n) and I met under it we would kiss-” Tony was then interrupted by you throwing some tinsel at him.

At that moment Bruce popped his head around the door,

“(Y/n), there’s a parcel here for you,”

“Oh yay!” you cried, quickly hanging up the banner you were holding before running over to him.
You grabbed the parcel and grinned, “My Christmas jumper, thanks,” you said before hurrying up to your room.



You walked into the party wearing a Santa’s hat and your new jumped. It had a fluffy robin skiing on it and it was really cosy.

On your way in you were careful not to hover under the mistletoe just in case Tony decided to try and put his earlier plan into action.

You smiled as you entered the room, it looked so Christmassy and everyone seemed so happy, which was odd as it was very rare that everyone was getting on.

Actually not everyone looked happy. Sitting in the far corner was a grumpy looking Loki in a green Christmas jumper.

“’Sup Reindeer?” You asked as you walked over to him. Loki looked up and glared at you. “I didn’t think I’d see you here,” you remarked as you sat down next to him. Loki shrugged,

“Thor made me come,” he muttered. He didn’t mind you really; he might even go as far as to say he liked you, although he would never admit it.

“Really? You did something because Thor told you to?” Loki glared at you again,

“No, I came because I knew it’d be loud and I wouldn’t be able to sleep if I stayed in my room.” You raised your eye brows,

“You can do magic, I’d have thought you could cast a spell to stop sound!”

Loki opened his mouth to retort but before could he Thor cried out,

“Lady (Y/n), brother, I think you should look up.” You and Loki looked up see the mistletoe from the door pinned above you with an arrow,

“It’s a plant,” Loki stated flatly.

“It’s mistletoe,” Thor said, grinning, “It means that you and Lady (Y/n) have to kiss!” Before Loki had a chance to argue you pressed your lips against his.

When you pulled away you couldn’t help but grin at the shocked look on Loki’s face, that and the fact he was blushing.

“Your cheeks have turned bright red,” You remarked.

“…Yes,” Loki said, shaking his head before adding, “I believe we are still under the plant,” and with that he lent forward and kissed you again, only this time more passionately.

Out of the corner of your eye you could see Nat and Clint standing together and Clint and clutching his bow.
