It was finally Valentine’s Day and you were sitting in the lab helping Bruce like usual.

Of course Tony wasn’t around, he’d just gone out for his night with Pepper, you were pleased to hear that he had taken your advice and had booked a table at Wilson’s (Pepper was also thrilled that he’d taken your advice).

“Pass the wire coils please,” Bruce said,

“Ok…” You reached over to the desk and picked up the coil that was lying there, keeping one hand on the contraption at all time so that it didn’t fall over. Bruce took it out of your hand and started to wind it around a magnet. Once he’d done that he picked up a clamp stand and fixed the contraption into it.

“You can let go now,” Bruce told you once he’d fixed it in place,

“Thanks,” you sighed as the let go, “My arm was starting to ache.”

At that the door to the lab opened and Nat walked in,

“Just to let you know Clint and I are off out now,” she said. You smirked; Nat had done as you suggested and now she and Clint were going out to a shooting range for Valentine’s Day.

“Have fun,” You replied,

“I’ll try to, oh and there’s something in the dining room for you two,” Nat grinned before heading back out of the door.

You and Bruce looked at each other and frowned,

“What do you think she means?” Bruce asked, you shrugged,

“We could easily go and found out,” you smiled, walking over to the door. Bruce smiled back and then hurried after you.

The two of you walked into the dining room to see the table laid with food,

“What the…?” Bruce muttered. You didn’t reply, you didn’t know what to say. Your eyes scanned the table but then they set on a small sliver box that was placed at the edge of the table.

You walked over to it and picked it up. There was a label tried on with shiny ribbon that you flipped over and read. ‘To (Y/n) from Clint’ it said. You frowned slightly before taking the lid off the box and peering in. There was a large chocolate muffin inside with chocolate icing and a cherry on top. You smirked,

“What is it?” Bruce asked,

“A cake from Clint. He owed me a one,” you explain. Bruce nodded even though he look slightly confused,

“Does it explain anything going on?” Bruce questioned as he walked over to join you,

“No…” Suddenly a thought hit you, “Hey JARVIS?” You said,

“Yes Miss (L/n)?”

“What’s going on?”

“I’ve been told by the others to tell you that they are returning the favour,” Came JARVIS’s rather unhelpful reply. Bruce rolled his eyes,

“Why can nobody just give us a straight answer?” he groaned,

“Because they are all a bunch of cryptic morons,” you muttered, causing Bruce to smile,

“Indeed.”

You did know what they’d done, they’d set up romantic dinner for you and Bruce and you were fairly certain that you knew what they meant by returning the favour but still… They could just say it rather than being cryptic.

“Shall we eat?” You asked after a moment, looking at Bruce who smiled at you and nodded.

The two of you tucked into the feast the other Avengers had laid out for you. You ate pasta, cheese, bread, breadsticks, vegetables, chocolate brownies, ice-cream and the cake that Clint had given you.

“I’m full,” you murmured once you’d finally finished,

“Umm…” Bruce agreed, “How is it that the others can’t manage to watch TV without arguing yet they can get together to cook a feast?” You shrugged,

“They probably didn’t all cook it, I mean have you tried Tony’s cooking? It’s awful.”

The two of you sat quietly for a minute but it wasn’t awkward, it was a nice silence.

“Do you want to go and look at the stars?” Bruce asked shyly after a minute, you smiled,

“I’d love to.”

The two of you took the elevator up to the roof where you walked into the centre and gazed up.

The roof of Stark Towers was the best place around to view the stars as it was above most of the city lights.

It was slightly cloudy but there were still plenty of stars in view,

“It’s beautiful,” you breathed as you took in the view,

“It is,” Bruce agreed, sitting down on the ground. You crossed your legs and sat down next to him,

“Do you know the name of any of the stars or constellations?” You asked Bruce, “I mean I can recognize a few but I can’t remember any names,”

“Yeah,” Bruce murmured, “Which one’s can you recognize?”

“Umm… the one over there that looks a bit like Natasha’s symbol,” you said as you pointed to the constellation in question,

“That one’s Orion,” Bruce explain, “And the star in the top left corner is called Betelgeuse,”

“That’s a cool name.”

The two of you sat gazing at the sky for a little bit longer before Bruce said,

“(Y/n)?”

“Yeah?”

“I know it’s a bit late but…err… would you… I mean… if you want to… I mean…erm…”

“Bruce,” You snapped, “Just say it,”

“Would you like to be my Valentine’s?” A smile spread across your face but Bruce didn’t see it as he’d become suddenly very interested in his shoes.

You gently took hold of his face and tilted up to look at you,

“I’d love to,” you replied.

With that you placed your lips upon his and kissed him. It took Bruce by surprise and when you pulled away he had a look a of pure shock on his face however it soon turned in to a smile and before you could say a word Bruce pulled you into his lap and kissed you. It was sweet and tender and everything you could hope for.

The two of you only pulled apart when you heard a sound coming from the entrance to the roof,

“Operation iky-love-stuff successful.” The two of you turned around to see Clint and Nat standing there, Nat was smirking and Clint was holding out his phone,

“How long have you been standing there?” You asked nervously,

“Not long, don’t worry,” Nat grinned,

“So…How was your date?” You asked. Nat rolled her eyes,

“Don’t change the subject,” Clint sighed,

“You’ve spent the entire week being so involved in our love lives so we thought we’d get involved in yours,” Nat explained with a wicked grin,

“How does that involve me?” Bruce whispered, speaking for the first time since you’d been interrupted, you turned to look at him to see that his cheeks had turned bright red (thankfully not green though),

“Because you and (Y/n) make an adorable couple,” Clint explained, slightly to excitedly,

“Erm…” Before you could get any further Clint’s phone went off with a text,

“Tony appreciates the picture I sent him,” he read out loud,

“You sent him a picture!” Bruce cried,

“I told him to turn his phone off,” you muttered,

“He did,” Clint replied, “I texted Pepper,” you groaned,

“Who else did you send a picture to?”

“Everyone,”

“Who everyone?” Bruce asked,

“Err…Pepper, Tony, Steve and Jane, because Thor doesn’t have a phone, oh and I sent it to you two too,”

“Why did you send it to us?” You questioned,

“Because then you can see how adorable you looked,” Clint replied before Nat gave him a weird looks,

“That’s slightly creepy,” she told him,

“And everything else we’re doing isn’t?” Clint asked. You rolled your eyes and slipped off of Bruce’s knee,

“Much as I’d like to stay and listen to you argue it’s cold out here,” you announced as you offered your hand to Bruce who took it and you pulled him up.

Nat and Clint rolled their eyes slightly as you but they let you and Bruce pass.

The two of you headed back down to the lab. Your contraption was still standing in the middle of the floor,

“We should probably move that,” you mused,

“Umm…” Bruce agreed, “And then disappear before Tony gets back because he will be hell,”

“Yeah…Do you fancy helping me kill Clint?” You asked as you and Bruce bent down and lift the contraption onto the desk,

“Maybe later,” Bruce said, putting the thing down, “But first we have something to finished as we were interrupted earlier!” With that Bruce leaned over and kissed you again.

Neither of you noticed that Clint had come off the roof and was standing in the doorway.
